20 Cobham Crescent

Rooms sit off a short hall that ends in a window.

From the timber desk you walk the carpet. Doors have no numbers painted on; we tell you which one when you ring. The far window usually blows the light a little.

Queen hotel room with a slate throw, cream walls and a window

Queen, garden light

The larger room takes the garden window. The slate throw sits on white linen that creases if you open the sash. A cable on the bedside is as far as the extras go — we do not stock a minibar.

Two single beds with plain covers in a Kelston hotel room

Twin, crescent side

Two singles. Useful if you are not sharing a bed. You still hear the odd hatchback on Cobham Crescent after ten. Skirting has a scuff from suitcases; the room is kept.

What we do from here

A night, then the mobile.

Bathrooms are small. Towels on the rail. We do not hire the rooms as a hall and we do not cook dinners. Tea in the morning is a table by a window — bread, a teapot.
